Okay, real talk. For years, I used to think consistency was boring, like painfully boring. I was all about spontaneity, go with the flow, live in the moment, see what happens. The idea of planning things out or sticking to a routine, that actually felt like putting my wild creative free spirit in a cage.
And I don't know if any of you can relate. Hello, I'm Ulysses Bichard, host of Halleah's Habits, so welcome back. Or if you're joining me as a new listener, I've had like over 200 downloads now and it's amazing how much this podcast has grown just from me being consistent. And that just brings me into the topic today. I just wanna talk about something very simple.
but also some realizations that I had personally just in the past few weeks actually as a 37 year old, grown up adult, adult adulting. But.
It's this concept of consistency that like, I used to think that like, if I plan everything out, that like, there's certain things in life that have to be planned, right? But there's certain things that I like resist planning because I wanna live in the moment and I wanna like, there's this balance here that I like feel like I've been going back and forth between that is like, like head to head essentially just.
arguing against each other like this Elise wants to be spontaneous and like go with the flow and do fun things and not plan everything out and then there's this Elise that's like but if you don't plan it out then like it won't happen and there's this like balance and tug of war right and but here's what I've learned recently and this this just kind of blew my mind is relating it to to your health.
and being consistent and your body actually thrives on consistency. So, and I'm not talking about just your physical body, I'm talking about your mind, I'm talking about like when you plan things out, you feel better. And without it, your body actually doesn't feel free and it feels under attack. And let me show, like, let me explain to you where this came from. I actually took
a two week metabolic challenge with my girl, Katie Saltzman. You'll hear me shot her out a lot because she's just an amazing human. Not only does she have an amazing podcast that you should also listen to, it's called Crying Burns Calories, but she also is like an amazing metabolic health coach. She's certified in it. She knows her shit when it comes to that. And when she was talking about this concept,
of when my body is not in routine, like it is in fight or flight mode. And so when I'm eating at different times every day, when I'm even like working out or walking at different times every day or, but mostly the eating part, I was like, I eat at fricking different times every day. Like not even in the same window. Sometimes I hate to admit it, I don't even eat breakfast. And
I am literally telling my body and my metabolism to freak out. this, so like without it, my body just feels, doesn't actually feel free. It feels like it's under attack. So it's in fight or flight mode. So then it stores more fat and it is like, it's crazy. But like then when I am in a routine,
like TMI, I poop regularly. I am like, I have a great day and feel stronger when I'm in a routine. And it's amazing that like, I'm 37 and just realizing this, but I've actually been putting my body under more stress than normal. Like just like I need a morning routine and an evening routine before I go to bed in between there.
I was literally just like my my routine was chaotic. It is chaotic. It still is some days. But like I need to have more days that it's not and like still make some of my life spontaneous because I actually am someone who likes being spontaneous. I like going into concerts last minute. I like
I went skydiving in Australia, like I like do it, but still those decisions like don't have to be the 70%, right? They could be the 30 % if that makes sense of your life. So you know how they say like 80, 20 with things. I go with 70, 30. I like having flexibility, but like that 70 % needs to be dialed in. like when you're not consistent though,
your nervous system doesn't know what to expect. Your body doesn't know what to expect. So it defaults into fight or flight. And when you're in fight or flight, you can't create, you can't focus, you can't thrive. And you're simply just surviving. And it's such a simple notion, right? But like, when I plan out my days for work, for instance, I get more done. I do.
Like you're more productive. I know what I need to get done. Like the top three things I need to get done for the day. Any more than that and it's just icing on the cake. But if I can lay it out and top three things I need to get done and maybe even the order that I'm going to get them in. But then I also need to plan out my meals around that. What's happening is I'm getting really focused and dialed in at work because let's face it, they pay me and
Like I know I need to get these stuff done, but I'm like chaotically eating around that or eating while I work or like doing things like that. And it's creating again, a place where my body is just surviving. It's not thriving. And that's not a hell yes life. That is not something I want to be about. And I know that you want to be about because you're here and you're listening.
So today's habit is this, it's simply consistency isn't boring. It's safety, it's freedom, and it's power. So let that sink in for a minute. Consistency isn't boring, it's safety, it's freedom, and it's power. So when you show up for yourself on repeat, whether it's your morning routine, your workouts, your mindset work,
or how you feel your body, you're creating safety for your nervous system. You're literally telling your body, hey, we've got this and you can relax. And guess what happens when your body relaxes? You get to create, you get to be bold, you get to take risks and you start living a life that feels spontaneous and exciting.
Because you've laid that solid consistent foundation underneath it. I used to chase the high of unpredictability. So like this hell yes like energy that comes from knowing that I own every single day. Like I have my own back every single day. So if you're sitting there thinking like routines are for robots,
or that planning your week makes you less fun, let me lovingly challenge you because I had to challenge myself. So this is a gut punch to myself that maybe what you need isn't more chaos in your life and spontaneity. It's that you need consistency and that consistency will actually free up more of your time to do things spontaneously.
It's like a mindset shift hack, whatever. It's crazy because it's like flip-flopping your mindset around this. And it was mind blowing to me, so I hope it's mind blowing to some of you. If it is, let me know. DM me, comment back. You can actually even text me, and I have a text number that goes to my podcast, so.
Feel free to do all of the above if this is resonating with you or blowing your mind as well because it doesn't like actually make sense, but it does, right? And if you start small, for instance, you pick one thing this week you can commit to. It might feel weird at first, but keep showing up and watch how your body, your mindset and your confidence respond.
just in like the first couple days. Cause today was not a good example of my eating patterns, but I have been pretty consistent now of eating in an eating window. I'm not saying I eat at like 3.33 every day I have a snack. No, it's like an hour window. But if I can hit that hour window for each meal, for each of my three meals, then I call it pretty solid and I feel better. And
Just watch, just watch how your body responds when you make that small shift. like, I lovingly, and like, just challenge you, I'm gonna repeat this one more time, because maybe what you need isn't more chaos and spontaneity in your life, maybe what you need is consistency and planning, because that will set you free. It will literally open up.
time, energy, everything. And so again, start small though. In Hell Yes Habits, we don't start big here. We start with small, consistent things. And...
you know that like a helliest life isn't created from doing something once. It comes from doing the right things consistently. But I want you to just think about what in your life are you actually wanting to be free at and spontaneously
and not plan out, but it's actually causing more chaos in your life. And that eating example is just one thing. Like I know that even for work, when I don't plan out my day, I'm actually being more reactive during my day. This was on the personal development app that I listen to every day. It's called Growth Day. You should look it up. I also have a link for a free trial if any of you all are interested.
But essentially he talked about the concept of the day running, you running your day versus the day running you. And when the day is running you, you just are in reactive mode all day. So if you don't have a block to like look at your email, you're literally just looking at your email all day and it's a revolving door. And then at the end of the day, don't feel like, excuse me, you're getting anything done.
Let's start small. Let's think about consistency in a new way. And let me know if this resonated with you because my God, did I need to hear it and reframe my mind around consistency and planning. But thanks for being here again. Another short episode for you. Or at least short-ish.

because that's what Helios Habits is all about. But one thing is remember boring doesn't build dreams, consistency does. I'll see you next time peeps, love ya.
